I've been watching the news regarding the tornado in Joplin, MO. It is wonderful to see the outpouring of support that has come from all over the country. There are so many volunteers on the ground there and there have been so many donations from Missourians and actually, the entire nation.
I was upset when I heard on the news this week, that there had been luding in the area. There are some tow services that are towing cars and then charging the people outrageous amounts to get their cars back.
Do you think the good deeds will outweigh the unthinkable acts that have recently happened?

I need a favor please
My son's 16th birthday is tomorrow and I won't be in class. I'm going to email my assignments to Professor Gagnon, but he suggested that I also send them to a student in case he forgot.
Would someone be willing to help me by printing off my assignments and taking them to class please? I can email them to you.
Your help would greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Graduation Etiquette
Like I said in an earlier post, I attended a high school graduation this weekend. I graduated from high school many years ago with a graduating class of 20 students. The graduating class yesterday had about 425 students in their class. The graduation was held at the Civic Arena in St. Joseph. All of the students were seated on the floor of the arena and all those there to support the graduates. There were some families who came in late--so that they didn't have to sit through the speeches, music, etc. Others left as soon as their student received their diploma instead of waiting for the entire ceremony to be over.
Am I wrong to think that everyone should've sat through the entire ceremony? Afterall, their child only graduates from high school once.

A time of hope
This weekend I had the opportunity to attend my best friend's daughter's high school graduation. As I sat through the ceremony, I thought how exciting it must be to go off into the world with a clean slate, open mind, and enthusiasm. How can we as older adults get our enthusiasm back?

To Flood or Not to Flood
I'm sure it's a very difficult decision that the Corps of Engineers had to make regarding the Mississippi River. Do you let the river flood the large cities or do you flood the small towns and the farm grounds? Either way somebody loses. I'm worried that the loss of their crops will cost us more at the grocery store in the months ahead.

Sweet 16???
My son will turn 16 on Tuesday, May 24! He is feeling really grown up and doesn't have a lot of time for me which something new that I'm having to get used to. I can handle that he's growing up. He's mature for his age he has a job and he's a hard worker.
Here's the tricky part.....should I buy him a vehicle? He wants a 4 wheel drive truck, which is a bit out of my price range to say the very least. The 4 wheel drive vehicles that are in price range aren't "cool". I checked the cost of insurance for my son, full coverage is over $200 and liability is over $80 per month.
What have other parents done for their children or what did your parents do for you? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Help Please!
I'm new to blogging and I'm a bit confused. Could someone tell me how to find our classmates so that I can post on their blogs? I appreciate the help. Have a great weekend and to all the moms in our class, Happy Mother's Day!
